The School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) at DIT University, established in the year 1998, is one of the major schools of the University offering UG, PG and Ph D programs in the streams of engineering & technology.
The school comprises of Departments of Civil, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. These were stand-alone departments in the earlier years of the establishment of the institute. In the process of restructuring and to bring in more synergy amongst all the all-engineering streams, the departments were brought under one umbrella known as “School of Engineering & Technology”. The school is known for its outstanding academic curriculum and delivery, along with some of the best industry practices which are brought to the classroom setting by the renowned and dedicated faculty of the various units of the school. “Learning by doing” is the basic and guiding mantra of the school where students are given wide exposure and opportunities to apply their knowledge of basic science and engineering in field problems and projects.
The teaching fraternity of the school comprises of highly qualified faculty members having specializations in various departmental sub-domains, having doctoral degrees from renowned institutes of the country and abroad. Besides high-quality teaching, the faculty members of the school are also actively involved in Research and Consultancy which produces good number and quality paper and patent publications every year.
Student-centric pedagogy, application-based learning-by-doing engineering approach provides students an inclination for complex problem solving, design, innovation during their period of programme duration. The school strongly believes, and practices hands-on knowledge delivery pedagogy blended with sound conceptual background of fundamentals. To facilitate experiential learning, adequate inputs in the form of mini-Projects, Industry visits, Summer Internship and One full semester Capstone project in Industry or Renowned Labs have been incorporated in the course curriculum of all B. Tech programs offered at the university. Availability of active students’ chapters further facilitates the students in practicing and participating in competitions for giving them wide exposure of the real world of engineering.
