About Program

The undergraduate program B. Tech in Petroleum Engineering with Specialization in Oil and Gas Data Science is designed for students who are interested in exploring the field of petroleum engineering from a data-driven perspective. The program curriculum includes a combination of core courses in petroleum engineering, data science, and specialized courses in oil and gas data science.

The specialized courses in oil and gas data science delve deeper into areas such as data visualization, data management, data integration, predictive modelling, and decision analysis, all within the context of the oil and gas sector. The program emphasizes hands-on learning experiences through laboratory work, industry internships, and real-world projects. Students will have the opportunity to work with industry-standard software tools and datasets, gaining practical skills in data analysis, modelling, and visualization. They will also learn about the ethical and environmental considerations in the petroleum industry, including sustainability, safety, and regulations.

Scope of the Program

The oil & gas industries are more data-driven in present times. The major oil & gas companies such as Halliburton, Schlumberger, BP, ExxonMobil., et cetera are using data science tools in computational fluid dynamics, subsurface prediction, and reservoir modelling to a huge extent. There is immense growth in the field of hydrocarbon transportation and flow assurance with companies like Saudi Aramco, Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Technip and TIMS etc. The alumni are working in globally renowned companies such as Halliburton, Shell, Schlumberger and Baker Hughes in the field of data science.

Merit Scholarship on the basis of Percentage of marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in XII Std. / JEE Score
Greater than or equal to 90% or 1st Rank Holders of all Boards / JEE Rank Between 1-50,000 40%
Greater than or equal to 75% to < 90% / JEE Rank between 50,001-80,000 30%
Greater than or equal to 60% to < 75% / JEE Rank between 80,001-100000 20%

The Merit Scholarship is applicable for 1st year only, for subsequent years please refer to Merit based policy for subsequent/continuing years in the Scholarship Policy

Notes

  • Online Registration is Mandatory.
  • In addition to above Fee, Rs.10,000/- Admission Fee (Non-Refundable) and Rs. 5,000 Caution Money (Refundable) will be charged at the time of admission.
  • Industrial Tour Fee Rs. 25,000/- (on one semester during entire course duration).
  • All the above Scholarships are applicable only on the Program Tuition Fee.
  • Only one type of scholarship can be given, students can opt for the higher %age of scholarship.
  • Scholarship cannot be more than 100% of Tuition fee.
